The Vaquero family raising a toast in the barrel room

The Winery

One family,
a village, a landscape

To understand our wines, you have to start with Mucientes.

Here are our roots, our vines and our way of understanding wine. It is a village of cellars dug underground, of old vineyards where white and red grapes grew together, and of families who have lived from wine for generations. Ours is one of them.

Sinforiano Vaquero and Daniela Gómez started their own project in 1966, but neither started from scratch: both came from families that already grew vines, made wine and sold it around the villages. Today the winery is run by their four children, and the grandchildren have begun to join. For us it has never been just a job. It is a way of life shared around a common project.

In these pages we tell you where we come from, what the land we work is like, how we make wine and what we have committed to caring for.
